Curse of WAR

Log line: Haunted by the atrocities he witnessed in war, a troubled U.S. Marine reveals a devastating secret during a therapy session—one that forces him to confront the demons that have consumed his life. Synopsis: Brooklyn native Sergeant James Powell (Ronald Graham) is a U.S. Marine suffering from PTSD and struggling with demons born from the gruesome atrocities he experienced during the war in the Middle East. Seeking professional help, James meets regularly with Dr. Dent (Sally Stewart), who works to help him confront the psychological devastation that continues to haunt him. During their sessions, James recounts his wartime experiences in painful, systematic detail. During a particularly revealing session, James shares a tragic and disturbing detail about his experience in the war—something he has never told anyone, including Dr. Dent. Haunted by his memories and frequently self-medicating with alcohol and prescription drugs, James has become increasingly isolated from his family. He lives alone, finding comfort in voice recordings of his children, David (Omar Dellimore) and Ali (Kaya Slawecka). On a cold winter’s day, James reflects on his tumultuous relationship with his wife, Sherri Powell (Famecia Ward), and the family he has become increasingly distant from. As his memories, guilt, and depression continue to consume him, James reaches a critical turning point and makes a decision to let it all go.
